Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, you’ll be greeted by your guide and transferred to your hotel. After check-in, take some time to rest before heading out to explore Kathmandu’s vibrant streets. Visit UNESCO World Heritage sites such as Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple) or Pashupatinath Temple. After an early breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Khudi, the gateway to the Lamjung region. The 6-7 hour drive takes you along winding roads, offering glimpses of lush hills, terraced farmland, and distant mountains. Stop for lunch at a roadside eatery where you can try local delicacies like dal bhat. Upon reaching Khudi, settle into a local lodge, meet villagers, and enjoy the tranquility of the countryside. The evening is perfect for stargazing under a clear Himalayan sky.
Your trek begins with a gradual ascent through terraced fields and dense rhododendron forests. As you climb, the panoramic views of the Annapurna range become more stunning. Along the way, pass small villages where you’ll interact with locals going about their daily lives. After about 5-6 hours of trekking, arrive at Ghale Gaun, a traditional Gurung village renowned for its cultural richness. Spend the evening exploring the village, learning about the Gurung way of life, and enjoying a warm welcome from the community.
This is the highlight of the trek. Early in the morning, join local honey hunters as they prepare their tools and climb steep cliffs to harvest honey from the hives of giant Himalayan bees. Watch as they use ropes and ladders made of bamboo to scale the cliffs, carefully collecting the honey while performing ancient rituals to honor the bees. Learn about the significance of this tradition and the medicinal properties of the wild honey. In the afternoon, return to the village and participate in a cultural program featuring traditional Gurung songs and dances.
Today’s 4-5 hour trek takes you through pristine landscapes, including dense forests, cascading waterfalls, and terraced fields. Bhujung is another traditional Gurung village known for its well-preserved culture. Upon arrival, explore the village, visit local weaving workshops, and learn about their sustainable agricultural practices. Overnight at a community homestay, enjoying local delicacies prepared by your hosts.
The trail today is a mix of ascents and descents through lush forests filled with birdsong and occasional monkey sightings. After about 5-6 hours of trekking, reach Pasgaun, a quiet village surrounded by terraced fields and hills. Spend the evening interacting with locals, learning about their lifestyle, and relaxing amidst serene surroundings.
Begin the final day of your trek with a descent back to Khudi. The 4-5 hour trek offers one last opportunity to enjoy the beautiful landscape of the Lamjung region. After reaching Khudi, board your vehicle for the drive back to Kathmandu. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and enjoy a relaxing evening reflecting on your adventure.
Depending on your flight schedule, you can spend the morning exploring local markets or visiting any sites you may have missed. Your guide will drop you at the airport for your departure, marking the end of this unique journey.
